Will faculty, staff and students be required to wear masks?
All faculty, staff and students are required to wear masks.
What if a students has difficulty wearing a mask due to medical or developmental concerns, will it be required?
Students with medical or developmental concerns must provide a doctor's note and should wear a shield in those situations.
Will students be checked before enterring the school?
Student symptoms and temperature will be checked upon entering the building.
If a student is attending school remotely, is it necessary for them to attend student orientation?
Students attending the quarter virtually can attend orientation virtually as well. It is important for them to be informed of necessary procedures during the school year. They will receive a link to participate in their grade level orientation
Will students be able to be dropped off to school early in the morning just as last year?
Yes, students will be able to enter the school and wait safe-distancing themselves.
Are students able to have a bottle of water available to them during the day?
Students can carry a bottle of water and refill them at the fountains throughout the day. Water fountains will be used to refill bottles ONLY.
What will lunch time look like?
Students may eat in groups but must maintain social distance - utilize cafeteria, picnic tables on the plaza, Coliseum, and auditorium. Once students have selected their seats, seating charts will be made.
Will students be able to purchase lunches?
Students can purchase freshly prepared items in the cafeteria by AVI Fresh. All items will be served in closed containers. There will be items that can be purchased throughout the day.
Will the EC Community continue to attend Mass monthly?
Although there is an all-school Mass scheduled each month, we will be evaluating the ability to celebrate together safely. If we are not able to celebrate an all-school liturgy, we hope to plan an alternative.
Will students have the option to attend Chapel in the morning?
Beginning after Labor Day, there will a student-led Liturgy of the Word every morning at 7:45 in the Chapel. Students must be seated following social distancing. There will be no sign of peace.
Can students who are learning remotely participate in extracurricular activities?
Yes. Students have to remain in class until 2:55 p.m. Students are welcome to join when they arrive at school after dismissal. Some student organizations will hold meetings remotely as needed. Students should communicate with the moderator to determine the need to be in-person or remote.
What is the uniform requirements for the fall?
BOYS: Boys are permitted to wear the dark green or white polo shirts embroidered with the EC logo purchased through Schoolbelles from the start of school to October 1 and again from May 1 to the end of the school year. For the 2020-2021 school year, Khaki shorts (no cargo-style) are also permitted during this time. Administration may adjust dates based on weather conditions. GIRLS: For the 2020-21 school year, girls may wear khaki shorts from the start of school to October1 and again from May 1 to the end of the school year. Shorts must reach mid-thigh and cannot be cargo-style. Administration may adjust dates based on weather conditions.
