Elyria Catholic High School is proud to announce that senior Edy Solet ’26 has been named the 2026 winner of the Elyria Rotary Club 4-Way Test Speech Contest. The annual competition challenges students to develop and deliver speeches rooted in Rotary’s guiding principles of truth, fairness, goodwill, and benefit to all.
On Tuesday, February 17, at the weekly Elyria Rotary Club luncheon, Edy's winning speech focused on blood cancers and her personal commitment to raising awareness and funds for Blood Cancer United. Drawing from her own experiences and passion for service, she highlighted the importance of research, patient support, and community engagement in the fight against leukemia, lymphoma, and related diseases. Her heartfelt message and confident delivery impressed judges and audience members alike.
“We are incredibly proud of Edy and the meaningful work she is doing,” said EC President Annie Heidersbach. “Her dedication to service and leadership reflects the mission and values of Elyria Catholic, and she is making a real difference both in our school community and beyond.” As the local winner, Edy will advance to the next level of Rotary competition, where she will represent Elyria Catholic and the community on a broader stage.
