Placement Test Information & Registration

Students interested in applying to Elyria Catholic for the 2027-2028 school year are required to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Two exams were administered in October and November.  The make-up date is scheduled for:

• Saturday, October 17, 2026

• Saturday, November 7, 2026

The exam begins at 8:30 a.m. and lasts until 12:00 noon. The examination is broken down into six sections; three English, two math, and one science. The results of the examination are used in conjunction with grades and other standardized test scores to determine course recommendations. The placement exam is mandatory for all incoming freshmen.

• Students need to bring two No. 2 pencils and the $20 exam fee (checks made payable to ECHS) with them to use during the test.
• Dress for the exam is casual.
• Students will be provided with a snack during the exam.

For students interested in being considered for Honors English 9, they will complete a writing assessment after the HSPT. The students will finish at 1:00 pm.

If your student has accommodations, we ask that you submit a copy of their accommodations plan, IEP, or services plan prior to the test so that we can plan accordingly. 

On both dates a Parent Meeting will be held at 8:30 am where Mrs. Terry Ziegelmeyer will share more details about financial aid and the tuition process.
