What inspired and influenced your decision to attend Elyria Catholic?
As I looked into high schools I knew I wanted to continue at a Catholic high school. I was able to watch my older brother, Joey '92, and loved to see all his school spirit and pride in being a Panther. I knew this was the exact experience I wanted, which made EC an easy choice for me!
What do you remember most fondly about your time at EC?
I always remember the friendships I built at EC. I am still friends with many today. I loved our time supporting each other in our activities and showing school spirit.
What did you learn or experience at EC that has helped you in your life now?
EC taught me the importance of community and the idea to look beyond your every day experiences. With the size of our class, I was able to participate in many different clubs and activities. I was not just put into a box or stereotype. I could try many different things to see what I enjoyed doing. Different experiences have helped me in all areas of my life.
Did you have a favorite teacher? Why were they your favorite?
Mrs. Hurst, in the English department, was one of my favorite teachers while at EC! She would always find fun and exciting activities that would keep us engaged. She would always make us laugh. I felt that I understood what she was teaching faster than other classes.
What did your life look like upon graduation?
After EC I attended and graduated from The Ohio State University.
What are you doing now professionally?
I recently accepted a position in the admissions department back at Elyria Catholic High School!!!
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy being with my husband Chris '98, and our 2 children (age 13 & 9). We enjoy watching them play sports and being involved in theatre! I also still love watching Ohio State football (Go Bucks).
What advice do you have for current students?
My advice for current students is to get involved! Try a club or activity you never thought you would. Also go see your friends in their activities as much as you can – if they play volleyball, basketball, etc… go support them!
